Olympic marathon champion


Olympic marathon champion from Beijing-2008, Kenyan Samuel Vanzhiru today appeared in court on charges of attempted murder of his wife and was released on bail, AFP news agency, citing local police.
24-year-old athlete denied the court that is attempting to kill his wife Teresa Nzheri Muturi. According to police sources Olympic champion Vanzhiru attempted to kill his wife.
"Last night I
went Vanzhiru was drunk at home and had quarreled with his wife. Vanzhiru At this point, took a gun and tried to shoot his wife and keeper of the home. Neighbors have come to the cries for help and prevented the accident "said police.
Immediately after the incident Vanzhiru was arrested after he was released on bail and on February 9, 2011 to appear again in court.
Vanzhiru is the youngest athlete to win four major marathon - Beijing 2008, London 2009 and Chicago 2009 and 2010. In Beijing on 21 years of age Vanzhiru became Olympic champion in the marathon.
